What is Muscle Activation
Techniques™ (MAT)?
MAT is a bodywork method using a systematic approach to identify and treat muscular imbalances that relate to injury. MAT looks at muscle tightness as a form of protection. Weak or inhibited muscles can create the need for other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize the joints. MAT gets to the root of pain or injury by addressing muscle weakness rather than muscle tightness. This helps to restore normal alignment thereby decreasing pain and reducing risk of injury. MAT was developed by Greg Roskopf, Biomechanics consultant for the Denver Broncos. This advanced study of biomechanics is now taught around the world.
